Large Scale Network Systems:

A Mainframe Computer is a high end spec system that is used in various large organisations that need to process/store hefty amounts of important data. These systems offer a wide range of input/output ports to connect to various other systems that may assist in the day to day running of the computer network/data centre for example.

Most commonly nowadays a good example to use of an organisation that would use mainframes for their company would be Amazon. Amazon is a large online marketing website and would have constantly run a mainframe that can take care of user transactions safely. When a user orders an item there are various different steps that the user has to go through as well as the computer. The computer has do various things to do as the user orders their item, these things may include storing large amounts of data about the transaction itself, like the date of the transaction for example, the transaction amount, price changes, personal data are many more variables.
